AR Shelving Presents its “D-Carbon” Program at the Global DIY Summit and Launches the Market’s First Low CO₂ Emission Steel Shelving Range
AR Shelving, part of the Arania Group and a European leader in metal shelving solutions, participated last week in the Global DIY Summit, held in Lisbon. At this international conference, the company unveiled its ambitious D-Carbon program, an innovative initiative aimed at advancing the decarbonization of the industry. As a result of this commitment, AR Shelving launched at the event the first low CO₂ emission steel shelving range on the market—a groundbreaking milestone in the sector.
D-Carbon is also part of AR Shelving’s commitment to the Make it Zero initiative, a global movement that brings together major retailers and industrial companies with a shared goal: to achieve net-zero emissions through innovation, collaboration, and a strong commitment to decarbonization. This strategic alliance reinforces the company’s ambition to lead the transition toward a more sustainable industry.
During the event, AR Shelving’s Commercial Director, Iñaki Bringas, emphasized:
“D-Carbon is much more than a sustainable product program; it’s a call to action.
When we meet with our partners, the first question we’ve always asked is to understand their decarbonization goals so we can help and align with them.
Most align with European regulations: the European Green Deal and the European Climate Law, which set a legal commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, with at least a 55% reduction by 2030.
For our part, since certifying our organizational carbon footprint under ISO 14064, we realized that emissions from our suppliers (Scope 3) accounted for approximately 95% of the total.
We weren’t surprised, because when analyzing the emissions from our product certification (ISO 14067), the same happened with raw materials.
That’s why our approach with retailers is very clear: we won’t be able to advance in our decarbonization goals unless we start selling products made with raw materials from more sustainable processes.
And this is where the D-Carbon project aligns with the common objective: the steel used in manufacturing reduces emissions by 70% compared to the traditional process, cutting the carbon footprint of our final product by around 40%. This is a major milestone for the industry and one of the first ranges available worldwide that genuinely advances decarbonization.”
The Global DIY Summit, recognized as one of the world’s leading events in the home improvement and DIY sector, brought together top companies, experts, and distributors in this edition to share trends, challenges, and innovative solutions in a context shaped by sustainability and digital transformation.
With initiatives like D–Carbon and its participation in Make it Zero, AR Shelving reaffirms its leadership in the sector and its commitment to a more responsible future, actively contributing to the development of an industry aligned with global emission reduction goals.
